Course Objectives:

According to the scope of the learning objectives specified in the core education program ensure that students should acquires the knowledge and skills to be able to diagnose important, common and basic Urology and Obstetrics and Gynecology diseases that may require urgent intervention; to treat these patients at the primary care level; and to make emergency interventions, and to send the patient to a specialist when necessary.

Basic knowledge and skills of Urology and Obstetrics and Gynecology

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Must be able to a medical history and perform physical examination from patients presenting with gynecological or obstetric complaints.
2) Must be able to choose diagnostic tests and evaluate the results of diagnostic tests in line with the medical history and physical examination findings of patients who present with gynecological or obstetric complaints.
3) Must be able to make differential diagnosis using medical history, physical examination and diagnostic test results and evidence-based medicine principles from patients presenting with gynecological or obstetric complaints.
4) Must be able to evaluate the patient with gynecological or obstetric complaints and decide to refer them to the appropriate center in terms of gynecological diseases and obstetrics when necessary, and should be able to refer them under appropriate conditions.
5) Must be able to recognize gynecological and obstetric emergencies.
6) Must be able to explain common health problems and their causes in the field of gynecology and obstetrics, taking into account the interaction of the individual with the environment.
7) Must be able to explain the diagnosis and treatment approaches in the field of obstetrics and gynecology.
8) Must be able to explain practices/preventions for the protection of health in the field of obstetrics and gynecology on the basis of individual and society.
9) Must be able to critically evaluate scientific knowledge in the field of obstetrics and gynecology.
10) Must be able to carry out studies and practices in the field of obstetrics and gynecology within the framework of professional values, ethical principles and legal regulations.
11) Must be able to take a history and perform a physical examination from a patient with a urological complaint.
12) Must be able to make associations between urological symptoms and diseases.
13) Must be able to explain the auxiliary diagnostic methods (basic imaging and laboratory tests) used in the diagnosis of urological diseases and their usage areas.
14) Must be able to count the symptoms and signs of urological tumors and make the distinctive diagnosis.
15) Must be able to make basic evaluations and treatment approaches related to male reproductive and sexual health and interpret semen analysis.
16) Must be able to diagnose and treat conservatively urinary system stone diseases.
17) Must be able to diagnose and regulate their treatment urinary system infections.
18) Must be able to define genito-urinary system traumas and list the principles of basic approach to traumas. Must be able to perform first aid.
19) Must be able to insert a urethral catheter transurethrally in uncomplicated cases in patients of both sexes.
20) Must be able to diagnose and treat sexually transmitted diseases.
21) Must be able to recognize congenital anomalies of the urogenital system.
22) Must be able to recognize and intervene in emergency obstructions of the urinary tract.
