Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: To follow scientific developments at the border points (fringes) in the field of medicine and to bring up new ideas.
Course Content: The course begins with the definition of Fringe Science and describes the differences between science and pseudoscience, teaching how to review modern, traditional and alternative medicine methods and to reach real scientific data. Then it continues with examples from studies at the borders of science. It helps students develop and defend their own fringe science ideas via brainstorming and presentations.

1) Distinguish between real scientific data and pseudoscience
2) To know the necessary research methods to reach real scientific data
3) To master the latest and most advanced technological developments in medicine

1) When Istinye University Faculty of Medicine student is graduated who knows the historical development of medicine, medical practices, and the medical profession and their importance for society. 3 3 3
2) knows the normal structure and function of the human body at the level of molecules, cells, tissues, organs and systems.
3) is capable of systematically taking an accurate and effective social and medical history from their patients and make a comprehensive physical examination.
4) knows the laboratory procedures related to diseases; In primary care, the necessary material (blood, urine, etc.) can be obtained from the patient with appropriate methods and can perform the necessary laboratory procedures for diagnosis and follow-up or request laboratory tests.
