Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: Have knowledge about the classification of Turkish dialects. Define the difference of language and dialect. Read and explain the texts written in Cyrillic letters.
To reinforce the acquired grammar knowledge on texts.
Reading and interpreting studies on selected texts from Azerbaijan Turkish.

Students understand the historical and modern Turkish texts written in different alphabets and transfer them to modern Turkish.
Course Content: General characteristics of Azeri, Uzbek and Kazakh literatures and reading of selected texts.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Knowing historical and modern Turkish dialects.
2) Knowing the basic features of dialects.
3) Describing the difference of language and dialect
4) Enumerating the classification criteria of Turkish dialects and the classification of major Turkish dialects made since the beginning.
5) Reading and explaining the texts written in Cyrillic letters.
