Admission Requirements

In addition to the conditions specified in the İstinye University Postgraduate Education Regulations (diploma requirements, ALES score requirements*, foreign language requirements**, equivalence condition when necessary, etc.), those who will apply to the program should have graduated from the faculties / departments that provides at least four years of education in Life Sciences, such as; Faculty of Medicine, Biochemistry, Biology, Biomedical, Bioengineering, Biotechnology, Genetics, Food Engineering, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering , Materials Engineering, Molecular Biology, Nanomedicine/Nanotechnology Medical Biology, Medicine, Veterinary etc. Candidates who have received their undergraduate education in one of the above-mentioned branches can apply to the Molecular Biology and Genetics Master's Program. Applicants will be evaluated in two stages. Accordingly, students will first be taken to the written general biology exam, and students who get at least 75 points from this exam will be interviewed. Interview results will be announced in the announcements section of our university website. Additional application and admission criteria will be determined by the Institute Administrative Board in order to increase the qualification of the students to be selected. The documents required from the candidates are as follows:
• Copy of identity card
• 1 passport size photo
• Application form
• The original of the document (transcript) showing the Master's/Bachelor's courses and grades taken from the Higher Education Institutions they graduated from.
• Original of Master's/Bachelor's Diploma or Temporary Graduation Certificate (A certified photocopy will be made during registration.) (The equivalence of diplomas obtained from foreign countries must be approved by YÖK.)
• ALES (Academic Personnel and Graduate Education Entrance Exam) result document
• Foreign Language Proficiency Certificate
• Curriculum vitae (In the CV, it is recommended that two people from whom information can be obtained about the candidate student are given as references and their contact information is given.)
• Reference Letter, (two pieces)
• A letter of purpose that reflects why you want to do a Ph.D., your goals and objectives for the future, and their perspectives on science and scientific developments.
• Military Service Certificate for Male Candidates

* ALES Score Requirements: To have received at least a valid score from one of the following exams for graduate education (result documents must be valid until the application date):
1. Applicants must have a minimum score of 55 from one of the points they will obtain from the Academic Personnel and Graduate Education Entrance Examination (ALES), a minimum GRE score of 150 for foreign students, or a minimum GMAT score of 450.
3. ALES is not required for graduates of doctorate / proficiency in art / specialty in medicine / specialization in dentistry / specialization in veterinary medicine / specialty in pharmacy. Regardless of the type of score or the field of specialization at the entrance to the graduate program from which the candidate graduated, the determined 55 points are taken into account.
4. Candidates who will apply with a bachelor's degree must have a graduation grade point average of at least 2.50 out of 4 or equivalent.

** Foreign Language Requirements: Foreign language exams accepted by the Council of Higher Education;
1. Candidates applying to a master's program with a bachelor's degree must have a TOEFL-IBT score of at least 72 and a YDS/ÜDS/KPDS/YÖKDİL score of at least 60.
