Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: This course will introduce various important areas of new media to students, enabling them to examine issues in popular media through a critical and original lens. Participatory cultures and their impact to the society will be discussed through various new media forms.
Course Content: This course examines the nature, origins and social implications of new media with a focus on participatory cultures and popular media.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Critically discusses popular media.
2) Draft, structure and critique a video essay.
3) Encourages students to independently discuss relevant topics with society and culture.
4) Empower them with the necessary lexicon to critique topics of new media.
