Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: The aim of this course is to teach students what are the basic principles and stages of script writing; to give information about the place, importance and scenario writing methods in the narrative of cinema and to enable them to make a story they set in the light of this information.
Course Content: The role of script in cinema narrative, the importance of script writing, narration, and composition techniques, tension and conflict techniques, the process of the scenario.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Can recognize the elements of the classical dramatic structure and describe the narrative structure
2) Can write the scene draft, script and shooting script in accordance with the format rules.
3) Can establish the phases of the script
4) Can master the script writing language and will be able to convert a film story into a written form using this language.
5) Based on the story can established, can write synopsis and treatment in accordance with the rules of style.

Course Flow Plan

1) Traditional narrative, contemporary narration, the place and importance of the script in cinema narrative
2) Idea, theme, subject, story flow. Story design, principles of story design.
3) The relationship of cinema with other art branches, the relationship between cinema and literature and adaptations. Adaptation regulations.
4) Adaptation types. Theater adaptations, literary adaptations and film adaptations. Adaptation problems.
5) Original story, narration, storytelling, story types, Event Story, Status Story, Section story
6) Elements that improve the plot in storytelling. Tension, suspicion, curiosity and conflict.
7) Sections in narration. Exhibiting scenes, development, promotion, climax, thaw and final.
8) Editing story items. Time, space and character relationships.
9) Perspective in the story. The perspective of the main person, the perspective of the third person. Epic and dramatic narratives.
10) Character and type. Types and types. Universal types, Social types, Spiritual types, imaginary types, historical types, frozen types.
11) Character and function. The main character is the side character. Processing methods of the character in the script. Choosing, Screening, Complexity, Simplicity.
12) Moving in the script. Outer movements, inner movements. Event motion, character motion, camera motion, player motion, time motion, object motion.
13) Time use in the scenario. Continuity of the present, long turns to the past, flashbacks, continuity of the past, continuity of the future
14) Space usage and highlights in the script. The real space is the continuity of the space.
