Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: To introduce the student the main concepts of syntax, to help the student gain the ability to analyze the sentence structure, the syntax and morphological role of the words in the sentence.
Course Content: Turkish syntax, sentence elements and elements of sentences and functions of these elements, sentence analysis on literary texts.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) At the end of this course, the student will be able to explain Turkish word groups, structure of clauses and form and semantic features and types of relationship between sentences.
2) The student will be able to examine both the role of elements of sequence and sentence.
3) Student can distinguish the types of simple clauses and explain the theoretical terms.
4) The student recognizes and applies the orthographic rules of simple clauses.
5) Student knows the essential element of the clause, predicate/verb-motion concept, the concept of time, simple and compund sentence and their meanings.

4) Predicate / verb 2: The concept of time. Verb time. Simple and complex times and their meanings.
5) Verb as the essential element of the clause 3: Verb rendering.
6) Auxiliary elements of the sentence: object, place and time complements.

9) Clauses in terms of their structure: Noun clause, verb clause and voices in verb clause.
10) Clauses in terms of their structure: Interrogative clauses Clauses in terms of their structure: Construction clauses (Wish clauses) and their meanings.
11) Clauses in terms of their structure: Complex sentences: intertwined complex clauses, complex sentences with “ki”, introductory clauses, sequential clauses, compounds.
12) Types of relationships established between clauses: cause-effect, condition, exception, inference, analogy.
13) Types of relationships established between clauses: Reversibility, attribution, probability, choice, limitation, change, association.

2) Have knowledge of examining the properties of Turkish within the framework of universal linguistics rules.
3) Establishes the relationship between language and literature, active writing and interpretation activities.
4) Uses computer software, and information and communication technologies at least at the European Computer Driving License Basic Level.
5) Uses Turkish in terms of intonation and emphasis aesthetically; writes accurate, comprehensible, effective articles in terms of spelling and punctuation.
6) Knows and uses the current information and resources in the field.
7) Understands the historical and modern Turkish texts written with different alphabets, transmits them to modern Turkish.
