Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: The Documentary Film Production course aims at introducing documentary cinema as a part of non-fiction film genre. The field of cinema has two main genres including fiction and non-fictions films which their own sub-genres. The course has been designed to draw the students’ interest on non-fictions films in general and documentary films in specific. The differences between fiction and non-fictions films, the sub-genres of non-fiction films, and features of documentary film will be the theoretical base of the course. Within this base, the basic movements in documentary cinema such as British Documentary Movement, Direct Cinema, Free C,inema, and Cinema Verite will be discussed. How to make documentary film will be the practical base of the course.
Course Content: Basic knowledge about documentary film production. The concept of documentary film, documentary film materials, language and scenario used in documentary films, music usage, sound and light use, the angles used in documentary film shooting, differences in documentary film editing. Analysis and the examination of documentary films that have been successful in the world and Turkey.

14) Students use information and communication technologies together with computer software at the advanced level of European Computer Driving License required by the field.
