Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: The course aims to depict the relevance of territory, international boundaries and sovereignty claims as well as national interests in the context of international relations. To this end, geopolitics will be discussed in relation to resources, flows, security concerns and identities as well as ideologies.
Course Content: The emergence and development of traditional and modern theories of geopolitics, various approaches to security studies along with post-modern security theories and strategies, existing links between these of sub-fields.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) They will learn basic knowledge on geopolitics
2) They will learn differing geopolitics approaches with their theoretical, conceptual and historical backgrounds.
3) They will learn policies of different states in various epochs within the context of geopolitics.
4) They will learn the implementation of policies with aspects of geopolitics in our contemporary world.
5) They will learn the geopolitical approaches and policies of Turkey.
