Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: Considering the architectural detail as a technological and scenographic phenomenon; it is aimed to make multidimensional discussions covering detail through the topics of materiality, spatiality, perceiving, form making and system approach.
Course Content: The subject of architectural detail is studied and discussed in the course. The architectural approaches at different scales, from element combinations to systems, from manufacturing and assembly methods to spatiality, are deeply examined around the architectural detail topic. Details are analysed, selected and produced through theoretical discussions, architectural examples, detail research, drawing assignments and in-class work. Materials within the scope of the course; are examined as a subject dependent on the detail approach.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Having skills for analysing and producing architectural details
2) Having an analytical and critical approach in the architectural detail production process
3) Approaching architectural detail as a design unit that hosts design criteria, material performance, production method and construction method.
4) Ability to identify necessary information to design architectural details
