Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: Achieve functional proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Recognize culture-specific perspectives and values embedded in language behavior. Decode, analyze, and interpret authentic texts of different genres. Produce organized coherent discourse in oral and written modes.

Course Content: Students in the French program will develop in-depth content knowledge about Francophone cultures, literatures, and linguistics, as well as advanced skills in the areas of intercultural competence, critical thinking, collaborative problem-solving, and language proficiency (speaking, listening, reading, and writing).

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) By the end of this course, students will be able to ask and answer simple questions and hold simple conversations in present tense.

1) Knows grammatical features of Turkish language.
2) Have knowledge of examining the properties of Turkish within the framework of universal linguistics rules.
3) Establishes the relationship between language and literature, active writing and interpretation activities.
4) Uses computer software, and information and communication technologies at least at the European Computer Driving License Basic Level.
5) Uses Turkish in terms of intonation and emphasis aesthetically; writes accurate, comprehensible, effective articles in terms of spelling and punctuation.
6) Knows and uses the current information and resources in the field.
7) Understands the historical and modern Turkish texts written with different alphabets, transmits them to modern Turkish.
8) Uses the knowledge and skills acquired in the field of Turkish language and literature in other fields of social sciences.
9) Have knowledge of analyzing and evaluating literary works belonging to classical and modern periods with comparative methods.
10) Examine and evaluate the Turkish works in the social and cultural context.
11) Uses a foreign language at B1 General Level at least in terms of European Language Portfolio criteria.
12) Makes interpretation, commentary, interpretation, analysis and analysis by using traditional methods used in understanding, explaining and interpreting the old Turkish literature texts.
13) Uses philological, etymological and semantic approaches to understanding texts.
14) Respects social, cultural and individual differences, universal values ​​and human rights in scientific and professional activities.
