Course Objectives: | The purpose of this course is to introduce modern leadership theories and concepts that are useful in understanding leadership. This course will provide the fundamental concepts of leadership, and the evolution of leadership theories up to now. What does it take to help leaders communicate and lead in today’s modern world? A simple word answer would be “Contemporary Leadership”. Even the most personable and engaging leaders can benefit from contemporary leadership approaches. In the past half-century, the study of leadership has evolved. It offers many new models and frameworks. These offerings help to explore what it means to be a leader and practice leadership well. There are many theories of leadership. Some promote traditional leadership theory approaches, while others promote contemporary leadership theory approaches. |
Course Content: | This course encompasses the fundamental concepts of leadership, leadership vs. management, the historical evolution of the main leadership theories, soft and hard skills of a leader, effective leadership behavior, contingency models of leadership, and contemporary leadership styles. |

1) Reach original results by using the field's interdisciplinary character 2) Position the field of leadership in the broader field of social sciences and identify its interdisciplinary relations 3) Follow the developments in the leadership field 4) Participate in research projects in the field of leadership and take part both as a researcher and as a project conductor by the project goals and needs 5) Develop strategies and plans for modern leadership styles 6) Evaluate the leadership knowledge they gained from a critical point of view 7) Contribute to academic and applied studies in leadership 8) Identify ethical values of the field and be aware of issues such as the universality of social rights, social justice, quality, cultural values |
