Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: To provide students with basic information about Basic Gerontology and elderly individuals.
Course Content: This course is an overview of geriatrics; historical and cultural dimension of geriatrics; Physiological and psychological changes seen in geriatric individuals; Factors affecting health in old age; Physiological and psychosocial health problems common in the elderly; gerontechnology; old age and ethics; Elderly policies in Türkiye and the world; Care services offered to the elderly in Turkey; healthy, successful and active aging; Includes issues of old age and death.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Students taking this course will learn the general perspective on geriatrics; can learn the historical and cultural dimension of geriatrics.
2) Students taking this course will learn about the physiological and psychological changes seen in elderly individuals; can learn the factors affecting health in old age.
3) Students taking this course can learn about physiological and psychosocial health problems common in the elderly.
4) Students taking this course will learn about gerontechnology; old age and ethics; Elderly policies in Türkiye and the world; Care services offered to the elderly in Turkey; healthy, successful and active aging; Can learn about old age and death.
