Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: The primary aim of the course is to raise awareness among students about children who are abused and neglected. In addition, it is aimed to be able to recognize, recognize and prevent child abuse and neglect, to have information about the child who has been abused and neglected, to have information about the situation of abuse and neglect in the world and in our country, to have information about children's rights and legal regulations
Course Content: Basic concepts of child abuse and neglect, types of abuse, types of neglect, children at risk, children's rights, the effects of child abuse and neglect on children, the situation of abuse and neglect in our country and in the world, relevant laws and prevention of abuse.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Knows the definition of child abuse and neglect.
2) Knows the types of child abuse (physical, sexual and emotional abuse)
3) Knows the types of child neglect (physical neglect, emotional neglect, medical neglect, educational neglect and social support neglect).
4) Knows the situation of child abuse and neglect in Turkey and the world.
5) Knows the laws regarding child abuse and neglect.
6) Knows children's rights.
7) Knows the content of the Children's Rights Convention.
8) Knows the studies aimed at preventing child abuse and neglect.

2) Develops original products, projects and activities related to child development, manages these studies, evaluates and evaluates the process.
3) Follow science and technology and have critical thinking skills.
4) Uses effective teaching and communication methods which may be necessary in the guidance and counseling activities for families and develops solutions when they encounter an unpredictable situation.
5) It follows information in the field by using a foreign language at least at the level of European Language Portfolio A2 General Level.
6) Uses information and communication technologies together with computer software at the basic level of at least European Computer Driving License required by the field.
7) Has knowledge about ethical principles and rules in the field.

14) Selects and uses the modern techniques and tools required for pre-school education. Communicates with other areas that may be associated with the field.
15) The individual has sufficient consciousness about environmental protection and occupational safety and behaves according to these processes. Its appearance, attitude, attitude and behavior make it an example for society.
