Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: This course aims to:
1. Introduce students to organizational behavior and leadership related concepts and practices.
2. Acquaint students with the issues on motivation, group behavior, and work teams.
3. Familiarize students with the basic approaches and contemporary issues in leadership.
4. Provide students an understanding of the issues of organizational culture and effects of societal culture on organizational behavior and leadership.
5. Enable students to research and reflect on the topics of the course both outside the class individually and in-class as part of a team and present the results of their work in class as a team.
Course Content: This course is designed to introduce students to the concepts and practices in organizational behavior and leadership. Organizational Behavior is the study of human behavior in organizations to improve organizations’ effectiveness. In organizations, leadership is the ability to influence employees toward the achievement of organizational vision or goals. The course mainly focusses on the individual (i.e., motivation), the group (i.e., group behavior, work teams, and leadership), and the organization (i.e., organizational culture and effects of societal culture on organizational behavior and leadership).

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) On successful completion of this course, the students will be able to; 1. Describe the concepts and practices in organizational behavior and leadership.
2) Explain the issues on motivation, group behavior, and work teams.
3) Discuss the basic approaches and contemporary issues in leadership.
4) Analyze the issues in organizational culture and effects of societal culture on organizational behavior and leadership.
