Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: Objective of this course for each student is to learn basic concepts of social structure, its history, the relation between social work and social structure and how to use this information in applied social work.
Course Content: This course focuses on following topics; the concept of social structure, social features of Turkey and its historical development, demography, urbanization, the phenomena of immigration, the relation between social work and social and cultural structure.

2) Have informatin on social structure
3) Understand changes and transformations in social structure
4) Have information on universal and local elements which shape social structure
5) Know important scholars who have studied on social structure
6) Learn the development and transformation proccesses of social order rules
7) Learn features and effects of social change
8) Understand the basic laws of social change
9) Learn the relationship of social structure and social work
10) Learn and evaluate the importance of social structure and change in professional application

5) Demography and family structure, urbanization and immigration as determinants and elements of social structure
6) Culture, ethnicity, minorities as determinants of social structure
7) Social relations, social communication and social stratification which are determined by social structure
8) Institutions of health, education, art, sport and politics which are determined by social structure.
9) Proccess of social change in Turkish society, historical milestones
10) Social structure in the pre-Ottoman period
11) Social structure in the Ottoman period.
12) Transition to the Republican period and changing social structure
13) Relationship between social structure and social work, question-answers and debate.
14) General evaluation and the importance of social structure in the effectiveness of social work.
