Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: The aim of the course is to introduce students to different family structures, to understand the problems that may arise in family-child relationships and their effects on the development of the child, to understand the principles of child-centered family counseling studies.
Course Content: Overview of family system and family counseling approaches, Parent and Child Interaction, Attitudes of families towards their children and their effects on children's development, Discipline methods, effects of parent behaviors on children, Participation of the disabled child in the family and psychological processes seen in families, Counselor family interaction, Stages to be followed in child development follow-up and counseling to the family, Guidance to families in educational environments and methods used in educational studies

Learning Outcomes

2) Know how different attitudes and behaviors affect children's personality development
3) Gains the skills to exhibit appropriate approaches to families in different psychological processes
4) Understands the ways to follow child development follow-up
5) Analyzes counseling services appropriate to the needs of the child and his/her family
6) Gains skills related to effective interaction methods with families in educational environments
