Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: Examining language development and related concepts from a psychological perspective.
Course Content: Introducing the relationship between mind and language and the biological foundations of language. Psycholinguistic study of language development processes in humans based on different language structures, language modalities, language skills, and differences between language and other communication systems. Discussing what grammatical knowledge is required for language use and what cognitive processes normal language use involves.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Students should be able to identify the basic areas of the brain involved in language and describe the functions carried out by these areas.
2) At the end of Psycholinguistics, students should be able to learnthe major processes involved in speech perception, word recognition, sentence processing, text interpretation, reading and language acquisition.
3) At the end of Psycholinguistics, students should be able to describe theoretical models and the methods used to experimentally test hypothesis in psycholinguistics.
