Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: The aim of this course is to understand personality disorders and their classification, which is one of the current topics of psychology, with the help of various theories. In addition, it is to be informed about the various problems that personality disorders may cause in general psychology practices.
Course Content: Personality Disorders, one of the current topics of psychology, are a group of disorders that are often neglected, understudied and stigmatized. A basic understanding of personality and personality disorders is essential for those working in the fields of psychology and health.
Within the scope of this course, you will gain in-depth information about what Personality Disorders are, according to various theories.
Personality disorders classified according to internationally accepted classification systems will be discussed.
Its diagnostic features will be listed, and its distinctive clinical features will be discussed in the light of various theories.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) • Identify and distinguish personality styles, traits and disorders.
2) • It describes the main characteristics of personality disorders defined in DSM-5: (paranoid, schizoid, schizotypal (cluster A); antisocial, borderline, histrionic, narcissistic (cluster B); and avoidant, dependent, obsessive-compulsive (cluster C).
3) • Comprehends the diagnostic criteria of personality disorders.
4) • Discuss the symptoms of personality disorders with various theories.
