Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: It is aimed to examine urban development, the concept of urbanism, urban scale, urban design dimensions, human-space relations, urbanism and urban design techniques through examples.
Course Content: The concept and development of urbanism will be examined and its relationship with architecture and urbanism will be explained. The context of our cities and our profession in the 21st century will be explained with theoretical and practical examples. The historical background, theory and practical methods and tools of urban design will be presented. Especially today's innovative perspectives and sustainable developments in urban design will be conveyed. Introduction to u goals and basic principles of urban design, area analysis, historical context, neighborhood, movement, structuring relationship and standards regarding open space systems design will be presented. In these narratives, experiences and advanced solution techniques will be examined, especially through international examples.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) To understand the urban environment in the context of urban design with the concept of urbanism and to associate its components with urban projects.
