Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: It is aimed to give basic knowledge about reaction mechanisms and to obtain
point of view about the flow of a reaction in both organic and pharmaceutical
chemistry courses.
Course Content: In this course, the reactions that can be encountered in the theoretical and
practical courses of pharmaceutical chemistry are discussed in terms of
mechanism. For this purpose, the basic knowledge that will be needed in the
reaction mechanism-reaction process is summarized in terms of general,
organic chemistry and a basis is tried to be formed. It is focused on gaining
the student's perspective and increasing the ability to interpret in similar or
different reactions.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Comprehends and applies the basic knowledge that may be important in writing mechanisms in terms of organic-pharmaceutical chemistry, and can make comparisons for different situations.
2) Knows the concepts of mesomeric, steric and inductive effects and interprets them in terms of reaction kinetics and mechanism.
3) Knows the definitions of electrophile-nucleophile and can distinguish given particles from this aspect.
