Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: The purpose of this course is to provide information about treatment options for orthodontic occlusal disorders and multidisciplinary cases.
Course Content: The objective of this course is to provide information about intraoral and extraoral appliances, rapid and slow expansion of the upper jaw, functional and fixed orthodontic treatment, complications in orthodontic treatment, orthognathic surgery, post-orthodontic retention protocols, and interdisciplinary treatment planning.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Students will be able to explain the types, applications, and working principles of removable appliances
2) Students will be able to explain the objectives, techniques, and the use of various appliances in orthodontic expansion.
3) Students will be able to explain the types, indications, and roles of extraoral appliances in treatment.
4) Students will be able to explain the principles of functional orthodontic treatment, the appliances used, and the treatment indications
5) Students will be able to explain the principles of functional orthodontic treatment, the appliances used, and the treatment indications
6) Students will be able to explain the latest techniques, technologies, and materials used in contemporary fixed orthodontic treatment.
7) Students will be able to explain the diagnosis, treatment planning, and applicable treatment methods for Class I malocclusions.
8) Students will be able to explain the diagnosis, treatment planning, and applicable treatment methods for Class II malocclusions.
9) Students will be able to explain the diagnosis, treatment planning, and applicable treatment methods for Class III malocclusions.
10) Students will be able to explain the etiology, diagnosis, and treatment methods for open bite and deep bite malocclusions.
11) Students will be able to explain the principles, indications, and treatment process of orthodontic therapy with clear aligners.
12) Students will be able to explain the potential complications of orthodontic treatment, their prevention methods, and management strategies.
13) Students will be able to explain multidisciplinary orthodontic treatment approaches, integration with surgical and prosthetic treatments, and the role in the management of cleft lip and palate.
14) Students will be able to explain retention protocols after orthodontic treatment, the appliances used for retention, and the treatment process.
