Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: The main objectives of this course is to discuss and assess the concepts, issues, methods and models related to health, health system and health policy.
Course Content: The relationship among health, health system, and welfare; the uniqe charactersitics of health sector; demand for healthcare; healthcare supply; healthcare financing; economic evaluation of health services; the role of government in the health sector; the contribution of health economics on determining and assessing health policies.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Discuss the uniqe characteristics of health services and health sector.
2) Discuss the characteristics of health care demand and supply.
3) Discuss alternative healthcare financing methods to create efficient and fair health systsems
4) Discuss the economic evaluation techniques for decisions made within health system.
5) Discuss the interrelations among health, health system, health policy and health economics.
6) Identify research topics to be addressed for Turkey from health economics perspective.
