Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: The aim of the course for each student is to examine the genes that are effective in sports science and athlete performance.
Course Content: Athletic Performance and Sports Genetics

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) To learn the concepts of genetic infrastructure in sports, especially strength, endurance, muscle mass, type and proportions of muscle fibers and lung capacity.
2) To investigate studies in the fields of sports genetics studies, identification of genes that affect athletic performance, elucidation of their mechanisms of action, and determination of susceptibility to athletic performance.
3) Examples of genes that can be associated with athletic performance; To learn the functioning of genes such as myostatin, erythropoietin, growth hormone, nitric oxide synthase, vascular endothelial growth factor, angiotensin converting enzyme, angiotensinogen, monocarboxylate transporter 1, insulin-like growth factor-1, peroxisome proliferator active receptor, alpha-actinin-3
4) Comprehend the general principles of increasing sports performance and their connection with genetics.
5) Define the relationship between the structures that make up the organism and exercise.
