Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: To teach the structure of obesity, accompanying diseases, evaluation and treatment approaches, physiotherapy and rehabilitation applications in bariatric surgery so that physiotherapists specialize in the field of obesity.
Course Content: Obesity, evaluation of obesity, obesity in children and adolescents, treatment approaches to obesity; medical nutrition therapy, exercise therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, pharmacological therapy, surgical therapy, physiotherapy and rehabilitation in bariatric surgery, obesity centers.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Gain knowledge of obesity, diseases accompanying obesity, obesity in children and adolescents
2) Has knowledge and practices on risk analysis and assessment in obesity.
3) Gains knowledge about treatment approaches in obesity.
4) Plans and implements an exercise program in obesity.
5) Plans and implements the evaluation and physiotherapy program in bariatric surgery patients.
