Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: The aim of lesson; is to deal with the main features of the new media in a wide historical scale with its sociological, economic and political dimensions. The question of the social effects of digital technologies will be discussed within the framework of daily life, cultural change and economic structure.
Course Content: Within the scope of the course, the basic concepts of new media, historical development of digital technologies, research methods in new media studies, new media environments-user relationship, participation in communication environments in new media, political economy of new media, effects of digital technologies on surveillance and privacy, producer-user's rights will be examined. .

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Have general knowledge about the basic concepts of new media.
2) Learn about the political economy of the new media
3) Gains the ability to critically look at the functioning of new media platforms.
4) Examines the role of new media in daily life and social changes.
