Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: While practicing their profession during their Pharmacy education will form the basis of this course. Considering that pharmacy will appeal to a wide public, it is aimed to create a wide information network for the purpose of correctly informing and guiding the patient, the meanings of scientific abbreviations in their education and professional life .
Course Content: Our students in the Faculty of Pharmacy, in the Terminology course; Throughout their lives, they will have the ability to briefly explain the development of the profession they will acquire from the first ages and the reasons for its emergence, and to understand the terminological basic information about the birth of the pharmacy profession, its position among the professions in the world, and the historical basic concepts for the future, based on the concept of Physician-Pharmacist . Pronunciation, emphasis , spelling, singularity, plurality and quantity in Latin . interior jewelry nouns, place- indicating nouns, place-indicating special nouns, adjectives, adjectives that guide, examples with drugs, numbers, examples indicating numbers, terms of measure. Pharmacognosy, Botany, Technology, Analytical - Pharmacology, with the word bodies that come from Greek and are used in professional Latin. Terminology related to Radiology as well as Terminological terms related to Chemistry, Toxicology , Microbiology, Pharmacology and Laboratories . Disorders of the body systems, diseases and movement system, circulatory system, digestive system, respiratory system, urinary system, frequently used Pharmacy-related terminological terms and applications related to prescriptions. With the creation of our Alumni they implement these acquisitions while performing their profession. In our world of science, where the World Medicine and Pharmaceutical industry is developing rapidly, it is aimed to obtain extensive information about the position of the Pharmacist in the health sector, and to carry out studies on the future of the Pharmacy profession with developments.


Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Know why the Pharmacy Terminology is necessary
2) Learns the pronunciation of the terms used in drugs in compliance with the grammatical rules.
3) Understands the meaning of suffixes in drug types
4) Acquires terminological information to make necessary explanations to patients about laboratory results by learning the terms of Biochemistry while performing their profession.
5) Provides support to patients by learning Pharmaceutical Botanical terminology related to the content of products created by OTC-weighted herbal formulas.
6) Learns the content of the Codex and Pharmacopoeia. Applies the handbook in pharmacy in laboratory studies.
7) Pharmacognosy Terminology acquires complementary knowledge of laboratory studies and applies it successfully.
8) Applies Microbiology Terminology in general health issues in hygiene.
9) Acquires the ability to read prescriptions, apply and understand the content of pharmaceutical technology terminology.
10) It is ensured that the drug interaction, the bioavailability of drugs , and the Pharmacological Terminology are perceived.
11) Learns Terminological terms in order to continue Analytical Chemistry studies in the best way in university life.

13) It is a medical discipline that makes use of x-rays, ultrasonography (very high frequency sound waves) and radio wave (RF) energies. Also, using imaging methods as a guide, knows the terminology of radiological examinations
14) Become ready to practice the profession of pharmacy by explaining the prescription content, software and reading terminology and abbreviations in all aspects.

9) Interprets the pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic properties of drugs, the factors that change their effect, their toxic effects, pharmacolygical activities and their risk assessment method. Reports the drug interactions and adverse drug reactions, monitors and applies the theoretical/practical knowledge for preventing them.
