Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: Aim of the course is to provide basic computer knowledge, give insight to ethical aspects of digital technologies, teach internet searching techniques and practice office software for academic and professional purposes and to give a basic understanding about programming.
Course Content: Technology in modern world, computers and computer system basics, software, hardware, information, computer networks, the Internet, Google search tips, academic databases and searching, M.S. Word (ribbons and menus, formatting, styles, table of contents, cross-references), academic writing with M.S. Word and Mendeley, M.S. Excel (formatting, user-defined and built-in functions, Pivot table, plotting), M.S. Powerpoint (formatting, slide master, animations, slide show, presentation tips). Introduction to programming with Python.
