| Course Objectives: | The aim of this course is to ensure the proper selection of ophthalmic lenses and frames in accordance with optical principles, the mounting of lenses based on prescription data, and the application of measurement, adjustment, and control procedures using optical instruments. |
| Course Content: | Lens shapes, edge profiles, and mounting techniques; prescription writing rules, the concept of addition (ADD), and prescription verification; lens and frame selection according to prescription data, pricing principles, and standards; centration and decentration applications. Mounting of spherical and cylindrical lenses, axis determination, frame adjustment to the patient’s face, focal point marking, and pupillary distance measurement. Structural characteristics, segment design, production processes, and mounting of bifocal, trifocal, and progressive lenses.Areas of use according to different types of ophthalmic lenses and frames; vertex power of lenses, focal distances, geometric and optical centers. Mounting applications using lens edging discs, hand stones, and automatic edging machines. Surface processing of lenses (marking, blocking, edging/finishing, polishing, and cleaning) and mounting techniques for different frame materials. |

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Selects the appropriate spectacle lenses and frame by interpreting the content of optical prescriptions. 2) In accordance with the recipe data, it can assemble glass on full and nylor frames in hand stone and automatic glass cutting machine. 3) Can check the assembled glasses according to the prescription data and adjust them according to the patient`s face shape. 4) Has knowledge about the various features of lenses and can choose glass suitable for prescription accordingly. 5) Can take the focus point for single and multifocal lenses and adapt it to the glasses to be made. 6) Accurately applies centration, decentration, and optical center adjustments during the mounting process. 7) Can evaluate the compatibility of lenses and frames, the position of the optical center, and overall quality control after spectacle assembly. 8) Can safely and correctly use the basic devices and equipment used in spectacle production and mounting processes. |
