Course Objectives: | Rather than analyzing texts, discussing the relation of specific concepts (modern / premodern / utopia / medicine / discourse / hygiene / consumption / immigration) with architecture is a priority. The main goal is to discover “text” as a new tool for understanding architectural theory and practice. During the course, it is aimed to gain comprehensiveness in practice of reading, understanding, interpreting and generating ideas about the basic concepts of modern architecture and the ability to express these ideas in writing. |
Course Content: | A critical reading and debate course through selected texts on modernity and architecture. |
The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Proficiency in reading, understanding, interpreting and expressing ideas in written form in architectural field. 2) Observing the difference between discourse and theory 3) Getting an idea of theoretical thinking and writing practice. 4) Creating the ability to read text. 5) The insight as a non-project-oriented habit for thought and discussion on architecture. |
