Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives:	To learn the development of medicine and dentistry throughout the history of civilization. To learn the development of dental materials and equipment. Understanding the development of dentistry in Turkey. To have foresight about the future of dentistry.
Course Content:	The development of dentistry in the First Age, the development of dentistry in the Middle Ages, the development of dentistry in the Renaissance and after Renaissance, the development of Turkish Dentistry.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) To learn the origin of the dentistry profession.
2) Understanding the common and different aspects of the history of dentistry and the history of medicine.
3) To learn the dental practices performed in different regions of the world throughout the history of civilization.
4) To learn the development and change of dentistry practices over time.
5) Evaluation of the evolution of dental equipment and materials over time.
6) Evaluation of the development of medicine and dentistry professions in Turkey.
7) Having prescience about the future of dentistry.

12) In natural disasters and emergency cases, takes the protective measures required by the dentistry profession; performs professional practices that benefit patients and society

14) Differentiates the signs and symptoms commonly encountered in the dentistry profession, makes a treatment plan and refers when necessary, and manages diseases and clinical situations regarding their urgency and patient priority.
