Course Objectives: | Mass communication process, its relation with ideology and political systems to explain in context. In the course, ideology and political systems are analyzed in relation to mass communication. Evaluating and reviewing the media on the basis of legal regulations and ethical principles, discussing the media through local, national and global networks and their sectoral effects, their relations with civil society and politics are among the aims of the course. |
Course Content: | To deal with the developments that have emerged from the day when the mass media tools started to be used as a political instrument by human beings with a critical perspective, to reveal different approaches to the relationship between media and politics, to analyze the concepts of politics, media, communication, cinema, the state, citizenship, to examine media and political ideologies, to examine the relationship between media and politics. |
The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Know the different definitions of media and politics and determine the relationship between these definitions. Will be able to critically discuss mass media and its products in terms of its relations with political systems between mainstream and critical media / commercial broadcasting and public broadcasting. 2) Expresses which issues media and politics traditionally deal with. 3) Examine the contemporary issues within the scope of media and politics. |
