Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: To teach how to produce animated images that can be used in the field of Architectural Design, how to make digital visualization and how to make a cinematic, narrative, audio and musical montage.
Course Content: Digital narrative-space design, digital visualization (rendering), animation, framing and composition, digital cinematography, compositing, editing and montage in NLE (Non-linear editing) video editors, color and atmosphere, audio exhibition video production.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) To create visualization-oriented designs that can produce narrative through digital space.
2) To work planned and organized in digital environment
3) To learn architectural photography and video techniques, to use digital "camera"
4) To overhaul, edit and finalize for print the designs produced in the digital environment for visualization purposes
5) To learn video production techniques and technologies and to use them in architectural presentations
6) To establish digital workflow and data transfer between different programs
7) To produce visual work that can be exhibited in a professional exhibition environment

Course Flow Plan

Week Subject Related Preparation
1) Presentation of the course, introduction of the topics, examples of the work to be done in the course. Presentation of the software to be used. Resources. (Rhino, Lumion, Photoshop, After Effects, Premiere)
2) Presentation of production processes in digital environment (“workflow” and “pipeline”). Detailed description of the work to be done. Planning the design.
3) Digital space design in Rhino.
4) Intro to Lumion, file transfer, camera and simple output methods
5) Materials in Lumion. PBR materials and production methods.
6) Elaboration of space designs.
7) Preparation for midterm submission, preparation of printouts in Lumion.
8) Midterm Submission and Evaluations
9) Extra details in modelling, complex materials
10) Introduction to "Compositing". Video render settings
11) "Compositing" continued
12) Introduction to editing and montage. Adjusting the camera for endless space animation
13) Editing and montage continued . Sound and music
14) Preparation for final submissions, corrections, updates and final checks.

1) Continuously following up-to-date publications and developments related to the profession of Interior Architecture and shaping the design process in line with the theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of architecture and art.
2) Acquiring universal knowledge in the fields within the discipline of interior architecture.
3) To have the right professional communication skills in professional life by using all the inputs and conditions related to Interior Architecture profession and to have mastered the methods of interior architecture representation and professional terminology.
4) Focusing on the various functions within the whole interior design design and handling the pieces of space as a whole.
5) Evaluating the concept of space design through different disciplines.
6) To be able to make contemporary designs suitable for the person by relating the relationship between human-space-scale concepts with the needs of the people.
7) Ability to use all presentation and expression techniques with the necessary knowledge of fine arts in order to express the design process correctly.
