Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: The purpose of this course is to provide the knowledge and skills to design graphic design products suitable for the purpose, addressing a graphic design problem.
Course Content: This course includes theoretical knowledge such as basic design principles, color, typography, and composition, as well as the use of graphic design programs. Additionally, the course content covers the design and application of various graphic design products needed in print and digital media, including personal and corporate identity designs such as logos, business cards, letterheads, envelopes, and promotional products, as well as posters, brochures, billboards, web page advertisements, magazine advertisements, book covers, magazine covers, and social media posts.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Knows and applies the fundamental principles of design.
2) Has knowledge of color theory and uses color effectively in designs.
3) Can use typography appropriately for its purpose in designs.
4) Recognizes and uses graphic design tools appropriately.
5) Can design graphic products for print and digital media using Adobe Illustrator.
6) Can plan and implement their own design projects.
7) Understands the ethical rules in the field of graphic design.
8) Produces suitable solutions for graphic design problems in print and digital media.
9) Knows the processes and applications related to corporate identity design, such as logos, business cards, letterheads, envelopes, and promotional products, and can create these designs.
10) Has knowledge about the design of print and digital promotional and communication products, such as posters, brochures, billboards, web page advertisements, magazine advertisements, book covers, magazine covers, and social media posts, and knows the processes and applications related to these designs and can create these designs.

3) Students will gain the knowledge and skills to interpret social, economic and historical facts from a sociological perspective by rational thinking in social, economic and historical context.
4) Students will gain the ability to follow and evaluate classical and contemporary studies and researches written in Turkish and English around the world.
5) Students will have the ability to use the appropriate theoretical framework and research methods for a sociological research in a future study project.
