Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: The aim of this course; To gain knowledge and skills to develop the student's knowledge based on undergraduate qualifications, to analyze and use the acquired knowledge in practice, and to evaluate the effect of the practice on health outcomes, by utilizing national and universal current sources of information on basic subjects in surgical nursing.
Course Content: Within the scope of this course, surgical and surgical nursing (responsibilities and roles), surgical environment, basic concepts in surgical nursing (human, environment, health and health behavior, health promotion and protection, patient-disease, the effects of the disease on the individual), and the surgical patient. surgery such as process, electrolyte fluid, wound, burn, shock, surgical infections theoretical knowledge about the basic issues in nursing and
applications are included

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Learns the developments specific to surgery and surgical nursing.
2) Defines the roles and responsibilities of the surgical nurse.
3) Have detailed information about the basic concepts of surgical nursing (human, environment, health and health behavior, health promotion and protection, patient-disease, the effects of the disease on the individual, surgical asepsis).
4) Have detailed information about surgical diseases (electrolyte-fluid imbalances, wounds, burns, shock, surgical infections).
5) Demonstrates the ability to identify and meet the bio-psycho-social needs of the surgical patient and his family on an individual basis.
6) Pays attention to use up-to-date information by following scientific developments in surgical nursing practices, training and presentation activities.

10) Surgical Infections, definition, causative agents, classification
11) Surgical Site Infections, Special Surgical Infections, and Nursing Care in Surgical Infections
12) Definition and physiopathology of shock, Types of Shock and Nursing Care
13) Multiple Organ Failure and Nursing Care
