Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: To ensure that individuals who receive first aid training and intervene in accident and injury situations play a decisive role in preventing the patient/injured`s condition from getting worse by ensuring the safety of the patient/injured and the environment, saving lives, sustaining life, preventing injuries and shortening the recovery process.
Course Content: 1. General first aid information and its importance
2. Assessment of the patient/injured and the scene
3. Basic life support (adult, child, infant) and AED training
4. First aid in airway obstructions
5. First aid in bleeding
6. First aid in injuries
7. First aid in heat stroke, burns and frostbite
8. First aid in shock, chest pain, impaired consciousness and serious illnesses
9. First aid in fractures, dislocations and sprains
10. Patient-injured transportation techniques
11. First aid in poisoning
12. First aid in animal bites
13. First aid in foreign objects stuck in the eyes, ears and nose
14. First aid in drowning

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) To be able to define first aid concept and its primary purposes
2) To be able to discuss basic principles of basic first aid
3) Ability to provide basic life support for infants, children and adult
4) Ability to do basic first aid
5) Summarize general the techniques of patient and injured transport.
6) To be able to analyze the conditions of an emergency situation that requires first aid and determine the most appropriate intervention method
