Course Objectives: | In this course, students will learn the basic process of designing research and testing using animals as models. During this course, the students will gain information about how experimental models can contribute to curing human diseases. We will discuss how different experimental models ranging from unicellular organisms to invertebrates and vertebrates animals have contributed to our growing understanding of the molecular basis of human diseases such as diseases of the nervous system, cancer and diabetes. |
Course Content: | The basic concepts in medical research and cover the general principles of the ethical care and use of animals in research, training, and testing. |
The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Students will have ability and skills in understanding issues in medical research. 2) Students will learn how to apply research findings from different fields to the medical practice and research. 3) Students will gain basic principles and skills about the process of reading, interpreting and preparing a scientific article, thesis proposal and report. 4) Students will experience asking questions and participating in a seminar discussion. 5) Students will learn about research methods and experimental animal research from various medical disciplines. |
