Course Objectives: | The aim of this course is to give detailed information about microbiota, prebiotics and probiotics, to convey the relationship between microbiota and diseases, to comprehend the effects of nutrition, prebiotics, probiotics and synbiotics on microbiota, to observe the differences between the microbiota of healthy individuals and diseased individuals, and to comprehend the importance of a healthy microbiota. |
Course Content: | This course includes microbiota and history, relationships between microbiota and diseases, human anatomical regions and classification of microorganisms, effects of nutrition on microbiota, effects of antibiotic use and other chemotherapeutic drugs on intestinal microbiota, probiotics, prebiotics and synbiotics. It also provides comprehensive information on the positive effects of probiotics, prebiotics and synbiotics on microbiota. |
The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Will be able to define microbiota, interpret the relationship between human microbiota and health. 2) will be able to classify the effects of antibiotics and chemotherapeutic on microbiota. 3) Will be able to classify microorganisms in relation with human anatomical regions. 4) Will be able to define the relationships between microbiota and diseases. 5) Will be able to distinguish the differences between the microbiota of healthy individuals and the microbiota of individuals with diseases. 6) Will be able to describe the effects of probiotics, prebiotics and synbiotics on microbiota. 7) They will be able to develop their article research and presentation skills. |
