Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: This course aims to introduce students to the basic concepts and techniques that support modern database management systems (DBMS). It deals with different architectures and the applications in which they are used. It aims to teach relational data model, relational database languages and SQL. The course also covers NoSQL databases, MongoDB and Redis for new systems in big data management. At the end of the course, Apache Spark technology for real-time data processing, a very popular approach to big data management, will be covered.
Course Content: This course covers Data and Knowledge Management Systems, Database Systems, Relational Database Management Systems, CRUD operations, Procedures and Views in RDBMS, Constraints in RDBMS, Document Based Database Systems, Cache Memory Database System, SPARK Applications.
