Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: The aim of this course is to make deeper analyzes on the key concepts and approaches used in the field of Political Science and Public Administration, International Relations. Political Scientists are making are analyzed in different ways. Defining models and comparing the different applications that arise between these models are among the commonly adopted methods. This course aims to deepen the progress of the participants by discussing these methods to reach new forms of analysis. To reach the competence and equipment to define the theoretical discussions and practices required to make comparisons between different periods, between different countries and between different locations or population groups within a country
Course Content: Comparative Politics, which is one of the main branches of the field of political science for International Relations and Public administration students, has an extremely wide and comprehensive field of study. It makes theoretical models by evaluating the comparison processes starting with the definitions of "the other" and the applications at the individual, society, state level and different units. It has a comprehensive content ranging from political regimes to political institutions and processes and finally to economic-political discussions.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Discuss institutional, cultural and rational approaches in comparative politics;
2) Evaluate the basic characteristics of democratic and non-democratic systems
3) Distinguish the different methods used in comparative politics;
4) Analyze how the public affects government policies;
5) explain the diversity of political culture, behavior and political institutions across countries and time;
6) Analyze the relationship between politics and economy.
