Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: The aim of this course is to introduce the basic concepts, principles and rules of the experimental method and scientific approach and to provide training on planning and evaluating psychology experiments.
Course Content: The course includes research techniques, experimental designs, ethics, designing an experimental research project, reading and writing a research report, psychophysics, perception, attention and reaction time, human factors, statistical thinking, analyzing data from experimental studies.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) To be able to explain basic concepts and principles of experimental method and scientific approach
2) To be able to discriminate easily between the experimental and non-experimental research designs
3) To be able to describe methodological properties of researches and evaluate the strong and weak points of experimental papers
4) To be able to critically evaluate the ethical issues in experimental studies
5) To be able to learn how to read and write experimental researches/studies
