Course Objectives: | Introduction to urban design, teaching basic principles; conducting a site analysis in a historical neighbourhood and designing an open space (a square, a park, etc) according to a concept; teaching the urbanization dynamics of American, European and Turkish cities comparatively The student will learn how current urban design theories and practice are now focused on creating a lively and safe public realm of streets, squares, parks and other public spaces.
