Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: During these studies, it will be ensured that students do preliminary studies, prepare presentations and homework on the subjects to be covered in the course in order to develop their research, analysis and presentation skills. With the participation of the students, the teaching method of the course will gain an interactive feature that includes mutual discussions. For this reason, weekly readings should be done in line with the program before coming to class.
Course Content: The phenomenon of urbanization and its historical development; causes of contemporary urbanization; urbanization and development; urbanization and political behavior; urban size; the impact of globalization on cities; environmental problems and the city; urban problems in Turkey; city and citizen rights; urban planning process and implementation tools; housing right and housing policy; slum problem and policy; urban renewal and urban transformation; Housing problems and policy in Turkey.

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Defines the relationship between the city, urbanization and public administration.
2) Explain the importance of the city and urbanization in Public Administration.
3) Follows the current developments in the urbanization literature.
4) Knows the basic principles of urban policies.
