Course Objectives: | To teach students basic medical terminology. (Basic anatomy and related terminology including Latin, Turkish and English appendices) To introduce students the basic knowledge about the nature of the human body, medical problems and procedures. To facilitate the understanding and production of texts on medical subjects. To enable students to develop strategies for translating texts for different readers (eg scientific articles, textbooks, patient information leaflets) |
Course Content: | Introduction of different types of medical texts. Explanation of terminology and effective usage in medical translations. |
The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) To gain familiarity with medical terminology and medicine 2) To have knowledge Latin and Greek inscriptions used in medical texts, words, origins 3) To recognize the main medical texts and their specific terminology 4) To know the difficulties in medical translation and develop strategies to overcome them, 5) To carry out research for medical text translations and reflect them on their works |
