Course Objectives: | To provide theoretical basis for interpreting work. To analyze differences between translation and interpretation. To provide opportunitiesfor practice for both theoretical and practical areas in interpreting. To give preliminary work for ETRI423 (Interpreting Project II). ( Selection of a topic for research in Interpreting, or a source text for translation. Preparation of outline and text analysis. Presentation of a short interpretation work.) |
Course Content: | A research topic and source selection for interpreting. Making a research draft and text analysis. It is a prerequisite course for the Oral Translation Project II (ETRI 423). |
The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Introduction to the main types and contexts of interpreting. Initial steps in developing basic skills and techniques in interpreting. 2) Emphasis on on-sight and bilateral interpreting between Turkish and English. 3) Bir metnin İngilizce-Türkçe veya Türkçe-İngilizce çevirisi veya bir öğretim üyesi tarafından denetlenen çeviri ile ilgili bir konuda bilimsel araştırma projesi üzerinde belirleme ve ön çalışma. |
