Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: Examining the Balkan states and Balkan nationalities with an emphasis on the historical roots of today's developments and determining their relations with Turkey.
Course Content: In this course, the Balkan states of Albania, Bulgaria, Greece, Romania, Turkey and ex-Yugoslav state of politics, history, demographic, social and economic structure will be examined. The current political and economic situation of the Balkan countries will be addressed. The post-Cold War political and economic situation of the Balkan countries will be discussed.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Understands the historical and cultural ties between Turkey and the Balkans
1) Students will learn about the common origins of the Balkan countries and Turkey.
2) Students will learn the current political and economic situation of the Balkan countries.
3) Students will learn about Turkey's policy in the Balkans.
4) Students will gain the ability to identify the dimensions of cooperation between the Balkans and Turkey.
