Course Objectives: | To understand the foreign policy approach of the USA, to comprehend the role and importance of the USA in global politics, to gain the ability to interpret the global effects of the USA's foreign policy moves. |
Course Content: | The historical evolution of US foreign policy will be discussed in this course. US political system, actors influenced by foreign policy and the issues of continuity and change in US foreign policy will be discussed. In the post-World War II period, USSR and US relations will be discussed. In the years following the dissolution of the USSR, the foreign policy of the US will be the main subject of this course, the effects of which will be examined on the Gulf Wars, the Arab Spring and the Middle East. |
The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) They will learn how the American foreign policy improved since the foundation of the USA. 2) They will understand the foreign policy doctrines and related implementaions in different times. 3) They will understand the contemporary parameters that give directions to foreign policy. 4) They will learn the relations of the USA with Turkey since WW II. |
