Course Objectives: | The main purpose of this course is to get students to know the Russian and Eurasian policies and to critically evaluate the effects of these policies on regional and global geopolitical developments. |
Course Content: | The historical evolution of Russian foreign policy will be discussed in this course. The establishment and political system of the USSR, the actors involved in the construction of foreign policy and the issues of continuity and change in Soviet foreign policy will be examined. In the post-World War II period, USSR and US relations will be discussed. In the years following the dissolution of the USSR, the foreign policy of Russia will be the main subject of this course. Crimean, Georgian, Ukrainian, Syrian crises will be discussed. |
The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Defines the general framework of Russian foreign policy. 2) Analyzes the strategic interests of Russia and Eurasian countries in other parts of the world. 3) Critically evaluate the place of Russia and Eurasia in world politics. |
