| Course Objectives: | The aim of this course is to encourage rational drug use by providing students with information about rational use of medications and the potential harms of irrational drug use. |
| Course Content: | The concept and elements of rational drug use, the duties of healthcare professionals in rational drug use; irrational drug use, examples and potential harms of these scenarios; rational drug use in different patient groups and clinical situations. |

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Defines rational use of medications. 2) Explains the fundamental principles and importance of rational drug use. 3) Defines the roles of healthcare professionals in rational drug use and applies them as part of their professional responsibilities. 4) Explains the potential harms of irrational drug use in patients. 5) Explains and supports rational drug use in pediatric patients. 6) Explains and supports rational drug use in geriatric patients. 7) Analyzes the adverse and toxic effects that drugs may cause. 8) Explains antibiotic resistance and the rational use of antibiotics; supports the rational use of antibiotics. 9) Explains the adverse and toxic effects of herbal products and dietary supplements, evaluates food–drug interactions, and contributes to their rational use. 10) Evaluates examples of irrational drug use and offers solutions. |
