Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: The aim of the course: to teach students sources of folklore, research techniques, theories and methods of the peoples belief, dreams, customs and traditions, customs, culinary culture, etc. To show the definition, features and description of Turkish folk literature. Genre and form in anonymous folk poetry, overview of Minstrel literature and Sufi literature
Course Content: An overview of folk science, sources of folklore, research techniques, theories and methods, belief systems, social norms in folk culture, sanctions and behaviors, celebrations, ceremonies, holidays, beliefs, folk dances, culinary culture, definition, characteristics and description of Turkish folk literature, folk literature before Islam, Turkish minstrel literature in Turkish literature, Overview of Minstrel literature and Sufi literature




Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) They can learn overview of folklore and sources of folklore.
2) They can learn research techniques, theories and methods in folklore.
3) They can acquire information about cults, customs, beliefs and practices related to belief systems.
4) They can acquire information about birth, marriage, death is taken.
5) They become acquainted about feast, ceremony, celebration and beliefs.
